The largest auto show on the planet, and one of the largest trade shows, is the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas. Our automotive editor Bryon Dorr traveled through the entire large-scale exhibition, looking for the best new products at SEMA 2021.
SEMA 2021 is a summary. This year's auto aftermarket event is slightly different from previous years. On the one hand, its square footage has increased by about 30% this year (due to the massive expansion of the convention center). But its booths have been reduced by about 30%, and attendees have been reduced by 30%. This makes experienced attendees feel completely different, but allows those who walk down the aisle to have more in-depth discussions.
Provide new products, but because the demand for most automotive products in the past 2 years has hit a record high, and there are huge problems in the global supply chain, the supply is far below normal. We search up and down in the exhibition booths to find the top 10 new automotive products you want to know about.
Below are the best exhibits we have selected for the 2021 SEMA show.
If your vehicle does not yet have a roof rack and needs more storage space, then SeaSucker Kush-N-Karry is for you. This roof-mounted cargo system is connected to your car roof via the tried and tested heavy-duty SeaSucker suction cups-four at the front and two at the rear.
It is flush with the roof, so it actually has better aerodynamics than the roof duffel bag installed on a traditional crossbar. The waterproof soft case is wedge-shaped. It has drainage at its rear corners to prevent water from entering the bag, such as melting snow from boots and/or snowshoes.
The genius of this new roof cargo system is the inflatable drip joint floor. The bottom of the bag is like an inflatable stand-up paddle board. This provides a rigid structure and cushioning between the contents of the bag and the roof.
Kush-N-Karry is packed in the included 60-liter tote bag. It will be available in the spring of 2022 at a price of approximately US$500.
Since iKamper has launched a large number of new products for land adventurers and weekend car campers, one new product that caught our attention is its new rooftop tent (RTT) sleep system. iKamper RTT Sleeper Double is a PrimaLoft Bio sleeping bag for two people, very suitable for the size and shape of the Skycamp Mini, suitable for any RTT.
The bottom is thinner than the top, which keeps warm and reduces volume. The new PrimaLoft Bio blanket system can be snapped in to provide more insulation.
iKamper Sleeper Double and many other RTT sleep products will be available in early 2022. There is no news about pricing yet.
OmniWall is an excellent and easy-to-use wall-mounted storage system. We have installed it in our Ultimate Garage Program (more on it soon) and are very satisfied with the results. The extreme organization and configuration versatility of all tools and equipment allows you to easily access and keep the garage tidy.
OmniWall's latest product will be launched in early 2022, this cabinet system. The system can be added to the OmniWall panel or purchased as a new free-standing wall cabinet system. It is ultra-light, with soft-touch hinges, and optional rechargeable cabinet lights.
Dual cabinets are priced at US$149 and stand-alone at US$99, including OmniWall mounting panels.
For a long time, Giant Loop has been the leader of adventure motorcycle soft pack games and has been providing fuel bladder for many years. I have and used an older fuel bladder of it, and I really like it for motorcycle and vehicle travel. Recently, Giant Loop completely transformed its fuel bag product line and gave it a new name, Armadillo Bag.
These foldable, lightweight and durable fuel transport bags are available in 1, 2, 3, and 5 gallon sizes. The Giant Loop armadillo bag has a CORDURA protective jacket with an internal TPU airbag. It has a large number of strong fixing points and now includes a spout that can be stored in a bag.
Armadillo Bags are available now, with prices ranging from US$99 to US$299.
Bad Ass Mounts is not light or cheap, but it is the most versatile and adjustable-quality lamp holder I have ever seen. They are made of machined aluminum and rotate with a small pin that locks them in place. They have just been listed, and a pair will cost you $129.
Bad Ass Mounts also offers a wide range of brackets, which can be mounted on almost any adventure vehicle.
American Adventure Lab continues to create innovative and high-quality products to upgrade your 4WD vehicle's onshore lifestyle. The latest product that caught my attention at SEMA this year is the rear drawer module of the new Ford Bronco.
The drawer is 6 inches deep, but the really cool part is the pull-out Plyboo table, which can be stored cleanly under the drawer. This is a super space-saving and convenient table/food preparation surface solution for your adventure gear.
The American Adventure Lab desk drawer will cost Bronco US$750, while the same setup (smaller drawer module) for Jeep Wrangler JL is about US$700. It will be listed around the end of this year.
Camping benches are not new, but the new Dometic CMP-C2 compact camping bench is a premium seating solution carefully designed for your next adventure. It can be folded into the accompanying carrying bag, the size of a single camping chair, but can accommodate two seats (300 pounds of load-bearing capacity). It is super light and is made of durable 600D fabric and aluminum.
Dometic CMP-C2 Compact Camp Bench will be available this spring, priced at 99 US dollars.
There are many bags to carry your off-road recovery gear, but few are made in the United States, designed to truly deal with the abuse that a good recovery bag must experience. Factor55 is famous for its super high-quality products made in the United States. The brand turned to Adventure Tool Company (ATC), another well-respected American manufacturer, to manufacture its latest rescue kit.
Factor55 Ultimate Recovery Bags are made of 12 ounces of waxed canvas, with 1500D ballistic CORDURA bottom and 1000D CORDURA orange interior, durable and easy to quickly find the equipment you need. They are now available in two sizes: the medium is priced at $152 and the large is priced at $252.
Cooper's latest adventure tire is Rugged Trek. It has the appearance of a muddy ground (M/T), but has all-terrain (A/T) road etiquette. You will see super raised letters on the side walls and two different side wall patterns. Because it is a two-way tire, you can choose the style sidewall to be displayed on the outside of the tire to best suit your taste.
Cooper Rugged Trek tires are available in a variety of sizes and are suitable for almost all adventure vehicles. The eight most common sizes have a snowflake rating.
Although it is a very special product, the installation of the ARB jack on the rear door of the new Ford Bronco is very cool. I carried an ARB jack in my adventure gear. I like how easy and safe it is to use, but I hate how cumbersome and difficult it is to store it in the car. Bronco's new rear door bracket will delight many customers.
There is no news on pricing yet, but it will be available in early 2022.
